The Human Resources Department implements the rules and directives of Commissioners
Court to provide human resource management services to the offices and departments of
Nueces County. These human resource management services are focused on providing a
forum to bring management's needs and desires together with labor's assets and ambitions.
Through professional and effective processes, qualified applicants are recruited and
selected to become valuable human resource assets. These employees are given career
development opportunities through on-the-job experience, formal and informal training,
on-going evaluation and feedback, and advancement opportunities within the Nueces
County system.

The Human Resource Department, established December 4, 1991 is comprised of 5 employees
who render services to 62 Department Heads and over 1300 employees. It is also responsible
for providing support to the Civil Service Commission. The department is responsible for
recruiting for open positions; managing the employment, classification, and compensation
systems, administering personnel policy and procedures; and working to resolve related
issues.
